RESEARCH: Social behavior and population genetics of Bengal slow loris, Nycticebus bengalensis, with implications for evolution & conservation.
BIO: I’m a PhD student in the Department of Anthropology at the University of Texas at San Antonio, USA, under the supervision of Dr. Luca Pozzi. I completed my BSc in Zoology and MSc in Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation at Jagannath University, Bangladesh, in 2017 and 2018, respectively. I served as a Wildlife Biologist from 2020 to 2022 and Chief Scientist from 2022 to 2025 at Isabela Foundation, Bangladesh. I’m a primatologist and have been working on primates since 2015. My acquaintance with primatology is diverse, and I have experience in performing independent research, successful grant writing, and publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have been awarded eight research grants from national and international funding agencies for primate research projects. I am a principal investigator of the Ecology and Conservation of Bengal slow loris project in Bangladesh. Founded Phayre’s Langur conservation initiative project as a co-founder in Bangladesh. I collaborate with scientists to study contemporary hybridizations among threatened colobines, population estimations of gibbons, macaques, herpetofauna, bats, small carnivores, and birds, and have published 32 articles in recognized peer-reviewed journals like Science Advances, Ecologies, etc. I am a member of the American Society of Primatologists, International Primatological Society, Long-tailed Macaque Project, IUCN SSC Primate Specialist Groups: South Asia Section & Section on Small Apes (SSA), Bangladesh Bird Club, and Zoological Society of Bangladesh. I was selected as Environment and Climate Secretary of One Bangladesh in 2024. I presented my research at five international conferences; these events provided me with a platform for networking and establishing connections with international researchers and finding potential collaborators. I was awarded travel grants to join Save The Frogs! World Summit in 2019, 7th Asian Primate Symposium in 2020, International Primatological Society Conference in 2023, and 9th Asian Primate Symposium in 2024. I won 3rd prize in the PhD category for my oral presentation in the Texas Association for Biological Anthropology at the 2026 conference. During my free time, I love to play Badminton, Cricket, draw, and travel. INTERESTS: Primate behavior, ranging, population ecology, population genetics, genomics and evolutionary biology SELECTED PUBLICATIONS:
