Pozzi Lab @ UTSA
Genetics - Evolution - Phylogeny

The research of our group centers on primate biodiversity and conservation. Our work focuses on exploring the origin of biological diversity, investigating the evolution of reproductive barriers that reduce or prevent gene flow among populations, and understanding how primates respond to human-induced environmental and climatic change.

We investigate the multitude of processes of diversification at both the macroevolutionary and microevolutionary level.
  • At the macroevolutionary level, we use molecular phylogenies to investigate broad patterns of diversification and to understand the role of ecology and biogeography in diversification. We also use comparative methods to explore how phenotypic variation (morphological and behavioral) varies across the primate radiation.
  • At the microevolutionary level, we are interested in identifying the traits involved in the reduction of gene flow among populations and in understanding which evolutionary forces have acted on these traits.
